Family Independent Agency of Michigan (FIA) Requirements:

FIA/child abuse and neglect clearance is MANDATORY for any adult working in the classroom. This can be obtained by going to:

Be sure to take your driver's license and social security card. Tell them you belong to the co-op and need a background check performed (no charge for this service). You will fill out a very simple form and be told when you can come back to pick up your clearance. This is mandated by the state and must be completed by your first working day. (This replaces the ICHAT that some of you may be familiar with.
